PNB scam: Interpol issues red corner notice against runaway Nirav Modi's brother

Nirav Modi's brother Nehal Modi, who is now being held in London jail in a Rs 13,600 crore PNB scandal, is upset. Interpol has issued a Red Corner notice against Nehal Modi's brother Nehal Modi, the main accused in the PNB scam. Earlier, the ED had appealed to Interpol to issue a Redcorner Notice against Nehal.

The PNB scam is also associated with Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi with Nehal Modi. He is accused of money laundering and destruction of evidence. Nehul Modi has fled abroad just a few weeks ago.

Nehal, 40, is currently a Belgian citizen. And lives in America. He is accused of money laundering. He is accused of helping Nirav Modi to make money from the PNB. Along with that, he has destroyed all the evidence.

The ED alleges that after reporting the scam, he turned off the cellphones of six directors in Dubai and Hong Kong and booked his ticket for Cairo.

Nirav Modi is currently in England jail and his extradition hearing is being held in London's Westminster Court. ED has seized Nirav Modi's assets worth Rs 637 crore. These properties are located in India and four other countries.

The seized assets, ornaments, pallets and bank balances, etc., are located in other places like India, Britain and New York. There are very few cases in which Indian agencies have seized foreign property for any criminal investigation.

The ED said that the property was seized under five different orders under the Money Laundering Prevention Act. According to a senior official, the ED has filed a Red Corner Notice against another accused, Aditya Mansavati in the case. It is worth mentioning that Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi are the main accused in the case.

ED has instructed legal agencies around the world to arrest Nehal Modi and arrest him.

It is worth mentioning that Nirav Modi is currently locked up in a London jail. His custody ends on the 19th of this month. The names of Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Nehal are also included in the list of those absconding in the PNB scam. The ED has said that Nehal and other members of his family helped Nirav Modi escape the money laundering and destruction of evidence.
